Formula Used

The calculator uses the following formula to calculate total hours worked:

Total Hours Worked

For each day, calculate the difference between time out and time in for each pair, then sum all these differences for the day. Finally, sum the daily totals for all days.

Mathematically: Total Hours = Σ (Σ (Time Out - Time In) for each pair) for each day

Where:

  • Σ (Sigma) represents summation
  • Time Out and Time In are in 24-hour format
  • Each day can have multiple time in/out pairs

Worked Example

Let's calculate total hours worked for a week with multiple time in/out entries:

Date Time In Time Out Hours Worked
Monday 08:00 12:00 4.00
13:00 17:00 4.00
Tuesday 09:00 17:00 8.00
Wednesday 08:30 12:30 4.00
13:30 18:00 4.50

Total hours worked for the week: 4.00 + 4.00 + 8.00 + 4.00 + 4.50 = 24.50 hours

Note

Lunch breaks are automatically calculated as the difference between time out and time in for each pair.
