For example, if your LMP was January 1, 2023, your due date would be October 31, 2023 (280 days later). If today is May 1, 2023, you would be in your 16th week of pregnancy (121 days / 7 = 17.285 weeks).

Determining Baby's Sex

The sex of your baby is determined by the father's sperm. Each sperm cell contains either an X or Y chromosome. When a sperm fertilizes an egg, the resulting baby will inherit the chromosome from the sperm:

X chromosome from sperm = baby is female
Y chromosome from sperm = baby is male

Note: The sex of your baby is determined at conception and cannot be changed. There is no scientific basis for methods that claim to influence baby's sex.

Some people may notice subtle changes in their bodies during pregnancy that could be mistaken for signs of baby's sex, but these are normal hormonal changes and not indicators of baby's sex.

Worked Example

Let's say your last menstrual period started on March 15, 2023, and today is June 15, 2023.

Calculate the number of days since LMP: June 15 - March 15 = 92 days

Estimated due date: March 15 + 280 days = December 12, 2023

Based on this calculation, you would be in your 13th week of pregnancy with an estimated due date of December 12, 2023.
