Calculate your monthly electricity bill in India using this power consumption calculator. Simply enter the wattage of your appliances and their daily usage hours to estimate your total power consumption and expected bill.

How to Use This Calculator

Using our power consumption calculator is simple:

  1. Enter the wattage of each appliance in watts (W)
  2. Specify how many hours each appliance is used per day
  3. Click "Calculate" to see your estimated monthly power consumption
  4. Review the result and chart showing your consumption breakdown

The calculator uses standard Indian electricity tariffs to estimate your bill. You can adjust the tariff rate if you know your specific tariff.

Formula Used

The power consumption is calculated using the following formula:

Total Consumption (kWh) = (Wattage × Hours per day × Days in month) / 1000

Where:

  • Wattage = Power rating of the appliance in watts (W)
  • Hours per day = Number of hours the appliance is used daily
  • Days in month = Typically 30 days for calculation purposes

The estimated bill is calculated by multiplying the total consumption by the electricity tariff rate (₹ per kWh).

Worked Example

Let's calculate the power consumption for a typical Indian household:

  • Refrigerator: 200W, used 24 hours/day
  • Air Conditioner: 1500W, used 8 hours/day
  • LED TV: 80W, used 5 hours/day
  • Washing Machine: 500W, used 1 hour/day

Using the formula:

Total Consumption = [(200 × 24 × 30) + (1500 × 8 × 30) + (80 × 5 × 30) + (500 × 1 × 30)] / 1000

= [14,400 + 36,000 + 1,200 + 1,500] / 1000

= 53,100 / 1000 = 53.1 kWh

At ₹8 per kWh, the estimated monthly bill would be ₹424.80.
