Formula Used
The team strength is calculated using a weighted average of player ratings based on their positions. The formula is:
Team Strength = Σ (Player Rating × Position Weight) / Σ Position Weights
Where Position Weights are:
- Goalkeeper: 1.5
- Defender: 1.2
- Midfielder: 1.0
- Forward: 1.1
This formula accounts for the different importance of positions in soccer, with goalkeepers and forwards having slightly higher weightings than defenders and midfielders.
Worked Example
Let's calculate the team strength for a sample team:
| Player | Position | Rating | Weight | Weighted Value |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Player 1 | GK | 85 | 1.5 | 127.5 |
| Player 2 | DF | 82 | 1.2 | 98.4 |
| Player 3 | DF | 80 | 1.2 | 96.0 |
| Player 4 | MF | 84 | 1.0 | 84.0 |
| Player 5 | MF | 83 | 1.0 | 83.0 |
| Player 6 | FW | 86 | 1.1 | 94.6 |
| Player 7 | FW | 81 | 1.1 | 89.1 |
| Total | 672.6 | |||
Total weights = 1.5 + 1.2 + 1.2 + 1.0 + 1.0 + 1.1 + 1.1 = 7.1
Team Strength = 672.6 / 7.1 ≈ 94.7
This example team has an overall strength rating of approximately 94.7.
Interpreting Results
The team strength rating you receive will be a number between 0 and 99, similar to individual player ratings in PES 2020. Here's how to interpret the results:
- 90-99: Elite team with exceptional talent and balance across all positions
- 80-89: Strong team with good balance and high-rated players
- 70-79: Average team with some strong players but noticeable weaknesses
- 60-69: Below-average team with significant weaknesses in key positions
- Below 60: Weak team that will struggle to compete at higher levels
The detailed breakdown in the results will show you which positions are strongest and which need improvement.
Remember that team strength is just one factor in determining a team's success. Other factors like tactics, team chemistry, and individual player skills also play important roles.
