How Oyster Card Bus Fares Work

Oyster Card fares are based on a zone system in London. The cost of your journey depends on:

• The starting and destination fare zones
• Whether you're traveling during peak or off-peak times
• Whether you're using a single ticket or a daily/weekly travelcard

Peak times are generally between 6:30 AM and 9:30 AM on weekdays, and between 4:00 PM and 6:30 PM on weekdays and all day on Saturdays.

Understanding Fare Zones

London is divided into fare zones, numbered from 1 to 6. The fare zones are:

2. Westminster, Southwark, Tower Hamlets
3. Kensington & Chelsea, Hammersmith & Fulham, Wandsworth, Lambeth
4. Brent, Ealing, Hounslow, Richmond, Kingston
5. Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Haringey, Harrow, Hillingdon
6. Bexley, Bromley, Croydon, Sutton

The fare you pay depends on the highest-numbered zone you enter during your journey.
