Formula Used

The Ontario payroll calculator uses the following formulas to calculate deductions:

Employment Insurance (EI) Premiums

EI premiums are calculated at 1.63% of the employee's gross pay.

Formula: EI = Gross Pay × 0.0163

Canada Pension Plan (CPP) Contributions

CPP contributions are calculated at 4.95% of the employee's gross pay.

Formula: CPP = Gross Pay × 0.0495

Income Tax Deductions

Income tax is calculated using Ontario's progressive tax rates. The calculator uses the 2023 tax brackets for federal and provincial taxes.
