Distance and Time Calculator Usa
This distance and time calculator helps you estimate travel distances and times between cities in the USA. Whether you're planning a road trip, commute, or business travel, this tool provides quick estimates for driving, walking, and flying.
How to Use This Calculator
Using our distance and time calculator is simple:
- Enter the starting city and state in the "From" field
- Enter the destination city and state in the "To" field
- Select the travel mode (driving, walking, or flying)
- Click "Calculate" to get your results
The calculator will display the distance between the two locations and the estimated travel time based on your selected mode of transportation.
Formula Used
The calculator uses the Haversine formula to calculate distances between geographic coordinates. The formula is:
a = sin²(Δφ/2) + cos φ1 ⋅ cos φ2 ⋅ sin²(Δλ/2)
c = 2 ⋅ atan2(√a, √(1−a))
d = R ⋅ c
Where φ is latitude, λ is longitude, R is earth’s radius (3,958.8 miles), and Δ is the difference between the coordinates.
For travel time estimates, the calculator uses average speeds for each travel mode:
- Driving: 60 mph
- Walking: 3 mph
- Flying: 500 mph
