The calculator uses average monthly expenses for each country based on data from the Numbeo Cost of Living Database. These averages include:

• Food: Average monthly cost for a single person
• Transportation: Monthly public transport pass
• Utilities: Electricity, heating, water, and garbage for a one-bedroom apartment

The resulting Cost of Living Index (COLI) tells you how your expenses compare to the average in the target country. A COLI of 100 means your expenses match the average, while a higher number means you're spending more, and a lower number means you're spending less.
