Formula Used

Where:

• Current Salary = Your current annual salary
• Target CoL Index = Cost of living index for the city/country you're comparing to
• Current CoL Index = Cost of living index for your current location

Worked Example

Suppose you earn $50,000 per year in New York City (CoL Index: 180) and want to know what your salary would be in San Francisco (CoL Index: 220).

This means you'd need to earn approximately $61,111 in San Francisco to maintain the same standard of living as $50,000 in New York City.

Interpreting Results

The adjusted salary shows how much you'd need to earn in the target location to match your current standard of living. A higher adjusted salary indicates a more expensive location.
