Calcular El.peso Ideal
Determining your ideal body weight is an important step in maintaining good health. This calculator helps you estimate your healthy weight range based on your height and gender using the most widely accepted formulas.
How to calculate your ideal weight
Calculating your ideal weight involves several steps:
- Measure your height accurately in centimeters or inches
- Select the appropriate formula based on your gender
- Input your height into the calculator
- Review the results and compare with your current weight
The results provide a healthy weight range rather than an exact target. Individual variations in body composition, muscle mass, and bone density can affect these calculations.
Common formulas for ideal weight
Several formulas are used to estimate ideal body weight:
Broca's Formula
For men: Ideal weight = (Height in cm - 100) × 1.1
For women: Ideal weight = (Height in cm - 100) × 1.08
This formula is based on average body proportions and is simple to calculate.
Lorenz Formula
Ideal weight = (Height in cm - 100) - (Height in cm - 150)/4
This formula provides a slightly different estimate than Broca's formula.
Robinson Formula
For men: Ideal weight = 52 + 1.9 × (Height in inches - 60)
For women: Ideal weight = 49 + 1.7 × (Height in inches - 60)
This formula is based on average body proportions and is commonly used in the United States.
The calculator uses Broca's formula by default, but you can select other formulas for comparison.
Interpreting your results
When you calculate your ideal weight range, consider these factors:
- Your current weight compared to the healthy range
- Your body composition (muscle mass vs. fat)
- Your activity level and metabolism
- Any medical conditions that might affect weight
A healthy weight range is generally considered to be between 18.5 and 24.9 on the BMI scale, but individual needs may vary.
Worked examples
Example 1: 170 cm male
Using Broca's formula:
(170 - 100) × 1.1 = 70 × 1.1 = 77 kg
Healthy weight range: 69.3 kg - 84.7 kg (based on BMI)
Example 2: 65 inches female
Using Robinson formula:
49 + 1.7 × (65 - 60) = 49 + 8.5 = 57.5 lbs
Healthy weight range: 125 lbs - 154 lbs (based on BMI)
