5e Money Calculator

Reviewed by Calculator Editorial Team

This 5e Money Calculator helps Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition players track their character's wealth in gold, silver, copper, and platinum coins. It converts between coin types and calculates total wealth in copper pieces (cp), the standard unit in D&D.

How to Use This Calculator

Enter the amount of each coin type your character has in the calculator panel on the right. The calculator will:

  1. Convert all coins to copper pieces (cp)
  2. Sum the total wealth in cp
  3. Show the breakdown of coins
  4. Display a chart of coin distribution

The calculator uses the standard D&D 5e coin values:

  • 1 Platinum Piece (pp) = 10 Gold Pieces (gp)
  • 1 Gold Piece (gp) = 10 Silver Pieces (sp)
  • 1 Silver Piece (sp) = 10 Copper Pieces (cp)

Coin Conversion

The calculator converts all coin types to copper pieces (cp) using these formulas:

Platinum to Copper

Copper = Platinum × 100 (since 1pp = 10gp = 100cp)

Gold to Copper

Copper = Gold × 10 (since 1gp = 10cp)

Silver to Copper

Copper = Silver × 1 (since 1sp = 1cp)

Copper pieces are the smallest denomination and are used for all calculations.

Total Wealth Calculation

The total wealth is calculated by summing all converted copper values:

Total Wealth Formula

Total Wealth (cp) = (Platinum × 100) + (Gold × 10) + Silver + Copper

This gives you the total value of your character's coins in the smallest denomination.

Example Calculation

Suppose your character has:

  • 2 Platinum Pieces (pp)
  • 5 Gold Pieces (gp)
  • 3 Silver Pieces (sp)
  • 7 Copper Pieces (cp)

The calculation would be:

Example Calculation

Total Wealth = (2 × 100) + (5 × 10) + 3 + 7 = 200 + 50 + 3 + 7 = 260 cp

Your character has a total wealth of 260 copper pieces.
