How the Calculator Works

The calculator uses the official D&D 5e rules for spell slots and spell save DCs. When you input your character's level and spellcasting ability score, the calculator:

1. Determines the number of spell slots available based on your character level
2. Calculates your spell save DC using your spellcasting ability modifier
3. Displays the results in a clear, easy-to-read format

The calculator also provides a visual chart showing your spell slots at each level, making it easy to track your spellcasting progression.

Using the Calculator

To use the calculator:

1. Enter your character's level in the "Character Level" field
2. Select your spellcasting ability from the dropdown menu
3. Enter your spellcasting ability score in the "Ability Score" field
4. Click "Calculate" to see your results

The calculator will display your spell slots at each level and your spell save DC. You can also view a chart showing your spell slots progression.

Spell Slots Formula

The number of spell slots available is determined by your character level and the spellcasting table from the D&D 5e Player's Handbook. The formula used is:

For example, a level 5 character has:

• 4 1st level spell slots
• 3 2nd level spell slots
• 3 3rd level spell slots
• 2 4th level spell slots
• 1 5th level spell slots

Example Calculation

Let's say you have a level 7 character with an Intelligence score of 16:

1. Character Level: 7
2. Spellcasting Ability: Intelligence
3. Ability Score: 16

The calculator would determine:

• 4 1st level spell slots
• 3 2nd level spell slots
• 3 3rd level spell slots
• 3 4th level spell slots
• 2 5th level spell slots
• 1 6th level spell slots
• 1 7th level spell slots

Your spell save DC would be calculated as:
